Our Cahors Collection

Domaine Le Bout du Lieu is a premier family-owned Cahors appellation estate in southwestern France that produces elegant wine, made from the noble French Malbec grape variety.

BOUT DU LIEU

An elegant, unoaked expression of Malbec in its purest form.

This unoaked wine embodies French Malbec in its purest form.

Bout du Lieu is created from old-vine Malbec planted between 1956 and 2000. A long maceration and 12 months aging in tanks gives this wine a brilliant, dark ruby color and an intense structure. It charms the palate with hints of violets, liquorice, dark berries and expressive tannins.

ORBE NOIR

Full-bodied and rich, Orbe Noir improves with age, but is also remarkable when young.

A full-bodied and luxuriously textured beauty that delights both young and with age.

This is our mid-range cuvée, made from 100% French Malbec. The name Orbe Noir, or “black orb," celebrates the deep hue and intense character of the Malbec grape. The vines were planted in 1980 on a single block of red clay soil on our vineyard’s third terrace, which hugs the winding curves of the Lot River. A long maceration draws out Orbe Noir’s dark, enigmatic purple color, while aging 16 months in French oak barrels adds structure and complexity to shades of dark berry fruits and vanilla accents that lead to a persistent finish.

EMPYRÉE

This exceptional ebony-colored wine has an elegant, powerful structure and great cellar potential.

This is our top cuvée, made from 100% French Malbec from vines planted in 1975.

Grown in red clay soil, on our third terrace along the meandering Lot River, Empyrée is a wine of tenacity, conviction, and patience. Aged 24 months in French oak barrels, this dark violet wine reveals a potent structure and opulent complexity. Dark fruit, spice, and oak notes rise and evolve into a lengthy, satisfying finish.
