Domaine Le Bout du Lieu is a premier family-owned estate that produces elegant wine, from the Cahors appellation in southwest France.

In the village of Saint-Vincent-Rive-d'Olt, aptly named for the patron saint of winemaking, the Dimani family lovingly carries on the ancient traditions of Cahors.

Bout de Lieu’s 18 hectares of vines are situated along the winding Lot River, which flows from east to west through the hilly Cahors countryside. This remote, breathtaking locale within the Occitane region of southern France is distinguished by limestone and red clay soils that are ideal for the cultivation of Malbec (also known as Côt Noir or Auxerrois)—the signature grape of Cahors.

I carefully cultivate the land to craft elegant wines indicative of this place, and that display smooth tannins and aromas of dark berries & spice to match their inky black hues. The estate name, Domaine Le Bout du Lieu dates back over a century and translates to “the end of the way”—a nod to the remote, secluded location nestled in the meandering Lot River Valley.

Distinct microclimates produce elegant wine with multiple ranges of dark berries and spice. I enjoy working on each parcel of vines where Malbec flourishes in the unique terroir.

“If you can see your fingers through the glass, it's not a Cahors wine.”
